Saideepa (Deepa) Kumar
Saideepa (Deepa) Kumar teaches and undertakes research at the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture in UTAS. Deepa is interested in the relations humans have with their environment, and the knowledge and institutions formed on the basis of these relations.
Deepa has explored this theme in water governance arrangements within agricultural regions in Tasmania and the Murray-Darling Basin.
Currently, Deepa is exploring how water institutions can be decolonised and adapted to create opportunities for First Peoples, especially the palawa people of Lutruwita/Tasmania, to exercise self-determination and achieve positive outcomes for their communities.
Deepa will be speaking at the Community Day – Soup Stop, on Thursday the 1st of August.
