Rob McCreath

Farmer

Rob farms near Deloraine with Sally and family, where they breed and fatten beef cattle. He’s been a farmer all his life, growing up on a dairy farm in Scotland, studying agriculture at university, taking over management of the farm, marrying the shepherdess and selling the sheep.

30 years ago they moved to Queensland, where they tackled droughts and floods, while growing a wide variety of crops under a zero tillage controlled traffic system, and running a crossbred beef herd. They moved to Tasmania 7 years ago.

Rob’s interest in the science of climate change was a key motivation to help form the group Friends of Felton, which in 2012, became the first community group in Queensland to stop a coal mine. He joined Farmers for Climate Action because thousands of farmer members give the organisation great credibility.
